Job Description

Tailchaser Pet Care is searching for an experienced dog trainer to join our team. Your role involves employing reward-based techniques to reinforce desirable behaviors in dogs while effectively managing and redirecting unwanted behaviors without punitive measures. Utilizing methods such as clicker training and understanding canine psychology, you'll foster a trusting relationship between owners and their pets, promoting a happy and well-adjusted dynamic. The ideal candidate's focus should aim to cultivate obedience and cooperation, resulting in long-lasting results and a strengthened bond between dogs and their owners.

This position would work primarily out of Arlington Heights and Lake Barrington resort locations with other private training opportunities within our service area that are listed on our website tailchasersinc.com.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide and support owners in mastering effective training techniques
  • Conduct personalized, one-on-one dog training sessions
  • Lead group obedience classes
  • Foster positive behavior in dogs, both during play and training sessions
  • Assess and address behavior issues, coordinating improvement plans with clients
  • Engage with clients in person to ensure their needs are met

Requirements:

  • Must be CPDT-KA Certified
  • Must be a US citizen or legally authorized to work in the US
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Commitment to the position for at least 6 months from the date of hire
  • Excellent customer communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Basic proficiency in computer/tablet usage
  • Valid certification
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • At least 1 year of professional dog training experience
  • Reliable transportation
  • Demonstrated teachability

Compensation:

  • $20-$30 Based on experience
