A Senior Metallurgist position is available with Storm Search. It is Direct Hire position that is onsite in Toronto, OH.
Position Summary:
The Senior Metallurgist is responsible for maintaining metallurgical and technical quality standards across the production department. This role is ideal for candidates with significant experience in metals processing and acts as a career progression from a Product Metallurgist position.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality & Process Oversight:
- Ensure products meet customer specifications and metallurgical process standards.
- Oversee and approve rework, retesting, and deviations of non-conforming materials.
- Support fixed process practices, DOEs, and MPEs throughout production.
- Work with Planning and Operations teams to maintain production flow.
Product & Specification Management:
- Assist in launching new products or processes into production.
- Define test requirements and analyze product process capability.
- Maintain and analyze data in FTP databases to identify and reduce non-conformance.
- Support technical editing during contract reviews.
Customer Interface:
- Review and respond to customer complaints and technical inquiries.
- Support customer audits, site visits, and process approvals.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships and technical documentation.
Team Support & Development:
- Train and mentor Product Metallurgists within the department.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, sales, and applications development.
- Provide guidance to production staff on metallurgical and quality requirements.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related field (required).
Experience:
- Minimum 3–4 years in metallurgical or metals processing roles.
- Titanium processing experience strongly preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of titanium metallurgy and metalworking operations.
- Understanding of quality standards (ISO, aerospace).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with statistical tools (e.g., Minitab) and non-destructive testing methods.
